Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden championship series after the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, Toronto, our country," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now slugged 23 total playoff homers, making him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team that has never reached in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.

The Blue Jays won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
