The Latest Casual Playlist Sparks Heated Discussions Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh game mode called Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this option resembles the regular Breakthrough setup but includes a few key adjustments:
- Every squad includes only 8 real players, with the remaining filled by AI-controlled opponents.
- Actions done by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
- Only two maps are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
- Features like Dogtags, achievements, and career stat updates have been turned off.
So essentially, this mode delivers on its title: it offers a laid-back take of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives more options for gamers looking for alternative methods to enjoy the title. However, gaming history have taught us anything, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, many BF6 players are upset.
Player Responses: From Fury to Support
"People want human opponents. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," states one reply to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing idea," says a different user. Meanwhile, in community forums, one user notes, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," and someone else details all the issues they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, improve hit detection. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist."
However, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players keep it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," says a forum post. "The community fails to see that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this title 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," adds a different comment. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."
Constructive Criticisms and Player Feedback
Despite the support, there are valid points to criticize the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase queue times even longer for different playlists because of the sheer number of options currently available. On a similar note, some areas already encounter AI-filled matches in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a required amount of human gamers, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots.
Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that a previous feature was meant to offer full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to eliminate bot farms from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the player base compromising in the middle, according to forum feedback. A different user describes this mode as the devs "making a mistake significantly, I had so much fun in the initial release, what prompted them to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made?
Should the development team has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, should analytics indicates this recent mode is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
