Spurs Boss Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Raise Tension on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' second score when Vicario gave away possession well beyond his box.

He ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the touchline measured at 36.6 yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario once more, a number of Spurs fans booed him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

A particular of those booing episodes really irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are behind each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I do understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He is a great squad member, he's a true figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match

Italian international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

He said after the match that he had to take the criticism.

"That score was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and calmness to overturn results. Today is a poor loss and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

10 moments passed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five moments after the kick.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for ages," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of additional time. Then it was solely about attempting to make the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a good feeling, the moment it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to continue their home woes.

This was their 10th home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared team record matching 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against Frank's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those wins have come after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, everything appears to go against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have suffered another game. Every game has a unique story, today we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
