Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades After Leading Abusive Songs Targeting Coach Wilder

The striker has joined Sheffield United only seven months following starting insulting songs aimed at their manager, Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. His seven-year career with Leeds finished by mutual consent in August.

Among Bamford’s final notable acts while at Leeds was to lead abusive songs regarding Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Now, the former England player will be playing for Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to rescue his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Between Bamford and Wilder

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager called the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

All appears has been put behind them with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement in attack and Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder commented back then: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I have no issue whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we would give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Challenges

The forward featured in 18 appearances for Leeds in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro striker has struggled with injury over the past few seasons.
