Line of Duty Announced for 7th Series on the British Broadcaster
The beloved crime series AC-12 will make a comeback for its 7th season, confirmed by the BBC.
An upcoming six-episode season created by Jed Mercurio will begin filming in Northern Ireland this spring, as confirmed by the production team.
The actress expressed excitement about the return, saying she was "so excited" about the series' return. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "How wonderful it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together next year."
The previous series concluded in 2021 with a final episode that drew in over 17 million viewers. Rumors about a new season have been widespread ever since, but official word only arrived recently.
Fresh Obstacles for The Team
The seventh season will open with AC-12 having been disbanded and renamed as the new police oversight body, as revealed by the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Adrian Dunbar's part continue working to tackle corruption within the law enforcement.
Their work "faces unprecedented challenges", and under these circumstances, the trio are assigned their "most sensitive case to date."
Fresh Face and Intricate Plot
An additional officer, Det Insp Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charismatic officer known for busts of criminal networks, is accused of misusing his authority to become a sexual predator.
However, this investigation might serve as a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still active in the background, the teaser suggested.
In a statement, the creator commented: "All cast and crew are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"It's an honor to have had countless followers watch the developments of AC-12 over six previous seasons and we are thrilled to be coming back for a new season."
Mercurio continued: "Corruption in the UK was thought to be over while the series was off air, so I've been compelled to use my imagination."
Cast Reactions
Martin Compston called being part of the police drama as "a job of a lifetime".
"Beyond the show's success but the colleagues I've collaborated with I now call dear friends."
"I'm excited to pull the waistcoat on again and reunite with everyone," he added.
Vicky McClure remarked: "Obviously I'm very happy the show is back! Can't wait to work with the creator, Martin and Adrian again. Belfast, we'll see you soon!"
The veteran actor noted: "While anticipating the AC-12 return, how exciting it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming soon."
"Pleased with the announcement and anticipating those mercurial twists and turns."
Show History
The drama premiered in the early 2010s and evolved into one of the most popular television series of the last decade, featuring notable actors such as Stephen Graham.
The BBC haven't revealed exactly the upcoming series will hit screens.
The conclusion of season six drew the long-running storyline about the search for kingpin known as "the mysterious H" to a close, and producers said at the moment there were no plans for additional seasons.
Nevertheless, the corporation confirmed on this week that a new season is now being produced.
