Approximately 55,000 families have currently been harmed by the weather, with their belongings and shelters destroyed.

Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have worsened the already dire living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to aid agencies.

"Terrible" Night Creates Serious Risks

A representative described the weather overnight as "terrible", with downpours so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"These conditions was really terrible for the people. The heavy rains were so intense... And the winds were so forceful," noted the official.

There is significant worry that young ones sheltering in temporary structures in soaked garments will fall victim to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Deaths and Widespread Damage

Health authorities have reported that one baby has passed away from exposure and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in roof cave-ins due to the harsh conditions.

Further statements suggest a higher number of casualties. Authorities reported that multiple structures had collapsed completely and scores had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by rains.
  • More than 40 official refuges inundated.
  • Many people required to find new shelter.

Relief Operations Deemed Not Enough

Organizations have escalated distribution of tarpaulins, blankets and clothing since the ceasefire started, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that assistance and to distribute it, but the scale of the needs is so immense that we are faced with many thousands of people and minors who are truly struggling every night," stated one official.

Ongoing Challenges and Truce Terms

The next stage of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.

Relief organizations have highlighted the necessity for "greater and continuous relief to respond to immediate and future requirements."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in October 2023. Following military operations have led to a high number of casualties in the region, according to official figures.
